Microsoft teams up with Egyptian ISP to launch MSN Arabia

Microsoft has announced that it is teaming up with LinkdotNet, an Egyptian Internet Service Provider (ISP), to form an Arabic and English-language web portal. Called, it will become fully operational in September and will carry online content in both Arabic and English. 


According to Microsoft and LinkdotNet, will provide e-commerce opportunities to small local companies unable to spend lavishly on marketing and advertising. Miscrosoft has agreed to provide users of with access to the already 1.8 million Arab users of Hotmail, Microsoft's free e-mail service.  


The regional MSN operation will be based in Cairo, Egypt and Dubai Internet City, United Arab Emirates. MSN Arabia will be jointly managed by LINKdotNET and Microsoft.  


LINKdotNET, an Orascom Telecom company, the largest privately owned Internet service provider (ISP) in Egypt. It delivers Internet and e-commerce solutions to organizations such as Bank Misr, Compaq Computer, Egypt Air, Microsoft, Reuters and Schlumberger. 


MSN is an integrated network of online content and services. Available in 33 markets and in 17 languages, MSN attracts more than 230 million visitors per month, according to company figures. ― (MENA Report)
