Middle East PC Sales to Boom

This year, it is predicted that Middle Eastern PC sales will approach a substantial growth of 35-40% compared to 1999. 

 

Indicators from the first quarter of 2000 suggest that the demand for PCs in the region will hit 1.4 million versus just over 1 million in 1999 and 600,000 in 1998, the Kuwaiti al Qabas daily reports.  

 

PC sales in Saudi Arabia are projected to reach 340,000 this year. Sales in Egypt will hit 287,000 and in Algeria they will reach 155,000. PC sales in the UAE are predicted to total 103,000, al Ittihad daily reports. Sales in other Arab countries will be as follows: Kuwait - 75,000, Lebanon - 95,000, Oman - 42,000, Bahrain - 31,000, Qatar - 29,000, Jordan - 49,000 and Tunisia - 60,000.
