Egypt’s Misr Qena Cement has concluded a number of export contracts for 1.2 million tons of cement, valued through March 2004, reported Al-Gumhuriya. According to company chairman, Mohamed Mahmoud, Misr Qena Cement would be further increasing its export activities following the expansion of the Safaga port facilities, which will allow for higher export volumes throughout the year.

Misr Qena Cement exported some 30 percent, approximately 480,000 tons, of its total production in the past 12 months. Misr Cement Company (Qena) is privately owned and was recently formed with the Egyptian Federation of Contractors as the main shareholder. — (menareport.com)
