MobileCom announced the activation of its roaming service with South Korea in preparation for the World Cup games being held there next month. The roaming agreement with South Korea marks the first roaming service to be offered by any Middle East mobile operator and is available exclusively in Jordan to MobileCom customers.
“MobileCom has been in constant contact with the Korean operator, Freetel, to ensure that our customers will have access to CDMA handsets that support MobileCom SIM cards,” said Yanal Mufti, communications manager at MobileCom. “All customers visiting South Korea can visit any of the Freetel booths at the airport in Seoul, where they can rent a CDMA handset that supports MobileCom SIM cards.”
MobileCom roaming services are now available in 85 countries around the world through the Thuraya partnership. MobileCom is the Jordanian public mobile telephone network operator, and is the operator of the mobile communications license granted to Jordan Telecom. MobileCom is a member of the Jordan Telecom Group that also includes e-dimension and Global One. The company launched its public service in Jordan on September 2000. — (menareport.com)
