Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation has signed a deal with Quantaflow of France to install a system that will monitor the movement of people passing through the Dubai International Airport, stated a press release. The system is being installed for the first time outside France.

The quantaflow system operates on the usage of sensors installed throughout the airport and linked to the main network. It has both real time and offline usage. The sensors are independent with their own microprocessor and are about 20 centimeters wide and will be imbedded in the ceiling.

The system will be used for safety and security reasons as well as for research and analysis. Thus, in case of a fire the online function will accurately reveal the number of people in the affected area to rescue personnel. The offline function will track movement within the airport, enabling authorities to determine which areas of the airport are most visited in the airport and which areas are not as frequently used. — (menareport.com)
