A new Arab Advisors Group’s survey provides detailed results of pay TV usage patterns and habits amongst Internet users in Egypt. The survey revealed that signal sharing is widespread. The report is based on the major online survey of Arab Advisors Group: "Egypt Internet users and e-commerce survey 2010". The survey revealed that 37.2% of Internet users in Egypt reported having pay TV in their houses.
A new report "A Survey Based Report on Pay TV Consumption Patterns in Egypt" was released on June 10, 2010. The 39-page report, which has 35 exhibits, provides detailed results of pay TV usage patterns and habits of Internet users in Egypt. The survey covers pay TV availability, pay TV subscription and satellite receivers that can be connected to the Internet (such as Dream Box) usage.
Respondents were randomly targeted by receiving an email shot in their inbox to ask them to fill in the survey, or through an online banner. Both methods took place in cooperation with Egypt's major ISP, TE Data. The survey results encompass answers from 1,321 respondents that passed rigorous quality control checks. Quality control was conducted by Arab Advisors Group’s team and included checking email addresses for authenticity and built-in question redundancy to filter out non-serious respondents. The survey was conducted on the general Internet population, including both genders and all age groups across Egypt. The online survey yields a confidence level of 99% with a margin of error of less than 4%.
"12.8% of respondents, who have pay TV, share their pay TV subscription with their neighbors. 61.9% of those who share a pay TV subscription with their neighbors, share it with more than 3 households" Ms. Noura Abdulhadi, Arab Advisors Senior Research Analyst commented.
