Moroccan cost of living to rise 2.3 percent in 2001

Morocco’s cost of living (COL) index is expected to rise by 2.3 percent in Morocco in 2001, 0.8 percentage points more than in 1999, reported the Pan-African News Agency, quoting an independent economic body. 


By the end of 2001, PANA reported food prices are forecast to climb by 2.6 percent, and prices in the transportation and communication sectors are expected to increase by 3.2 percent. 


PANA added that the index in the industrial sector will rise by 2.1 percent, following a 2.4 percent increase in 2000. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
