The Moroccan ministry of treasury intends to soon put up for sale in a public tender a number of old jail structures throughout the Kingdom. The initial purchase offer for the buildings was determined at 32.6 million Moroccan dinars ($2.7 million).

Due to poor condition, these facilities could no longer house prisoners. The treasury therefore decided to try and auction them off, seeking a private investor who would find a commercial use for the sturtures, reported Al-Hayat.

The initial auction of two prisons, one in Casablanca and another somewhere along the Atlantic Ocean, will reportedly take place at the beginning of next month. — (Mena Report)
