Morocco will now be present as an observer in the Territorial Development Policy Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), according to Moroccan economics sources.

This makes Morocco the first Arab and African country to have a seat on the prestigious body of thirty member states. Morocco has been actively pursuing such an opportunity and undoubtedly its strategic importance as a link between Europe, Africa and the Arab world as well as being a key country in the fight against Al Qaeda helped promote its selection.
