The Moroccan government has allocated 800 million dirhams ($74 million) to agricultural development. The funds will be used to develop farmland, purchase agricultural equipment and increase livestock production, stated the nation’s Minister of Agriculture, Ismail Alaoui.

The agricultural sector plays a key role in the Moroccan economy, employing nearly 40 percent of the 11-million strong local labor force. It contributes, however, only 17 percent of Morocco’s total gross domestic product (GDP). — (menareport.com)
