Mega property developer Nakheel has signed an agreement with GHD to supervise the fishing harbour expansion and the redevelopment project on Jumeirah Beach and Dubai Creek.
The expansion and redevelopment project designs comprise three fishing harbours stretching along the Jumeirah coastline, including Jumeirah Harbour 1, Umm Saqueim Harbour 1 and Umm Saqueim Harbour 2. Each harbour can handle various kinds of fishing boats and yachts. Work on the project is to commence by the end of this year.
The project will also cover the Mina Al Seyahi located beside The Palm, Jumeirah. Work on this project is expected to be finalised by the end of October.
As for Dubai Creek, three berths will be redeveloped, two of which will serve dhows and the third will serve tourist yachts and vessels.
The plan includes the setting up of a fishing harbour at the Dubai Maritime City.
GHD, an Australian company, specialises in marine consultancy and management engineering environment.
It will be supervising the execution of all fishing harbours except the Mina Al Seyahi berths that will be supervised and executed by Colp, a US company. (menareport.com)
