Nakheel, the UAE’s leading property developer, is promoting its iconic projects on a global stage at the UAE-Italy Economic Partnership Forum.

The Forum is being held from 8 - 10 June 2005 at the Fiera Milano Congressi Centre, Milan. The first ever UAE-Italy Economic Partnership Forum follows the huge success of the UAE-Germany Economic Partnership Forum in May 2005.

Over 2,000 Italian businessmen and investors will be participating in the Forum, besides a high-ranking official delegation representing the UAE, presided over by Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy and Planning. The main objective of the event is to further develop and enhance the flow of investment between the UAE and Italy, and provide a platform to forge partnerships between like-minded businessmen from both countries. Trade between the UAE and Italy in 2004 totaled $2.93 billion – a 12.3 % rise from 2003.

Nakheel will be promoting its portfolio of projects on its stand at the Forum, with a particular focus on such iconic developments as The World, The Palm, and the recently launched Dubai Waterfront – set to be the largest waterfront development in the world.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, Nakheel, said, “Economic relationships between the UAE and Italy are going from strength to strength. The UAE shares a long and successful history of bilateral trade with Italy and this will only present new avenues for trade and business between the two countries. The UAE – Italy Economic Forum is welcoming a wealth of high profile decision makers and professionals from both countries and we are certain that a large section of the Italian business community will show interest in the range of Nakheel’s unique and iconic projects. It is the uniqueness of Nakheel’s developments that is key in attracting delegates to the Nakheel stand. Innovative and progressive projects such as The World and The Palms embody all that is great about Dubai in a region that is thriving.”

After a welcoming message from Dr Michele Perini, President of Fiera Milana, a keynote speech will be given by H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Economy and Planning. Other speakers over the three day Forum include Mr Mahmoud Saleh, Executive Director of Shared Services Department & Secretary General of The Corporate Office, speaking on industrial and business development, and Mr Ibrahim Al Jahani, Regional Manager – Europe, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza), speaking on the developments at Jafza.
