National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was declared as the recipient of UAE Bank of the Year 2004 award, by the Banker magazine UK, in an annual contest wherein leading banks are invited to participate.

Instituted by the Banker Magazine (a Financial Times publication) this award is ranked as an industry benchmark, conferred by an independent jury of international financial experts based upon overall organizational performance.

This is the second time that NBAD has been acknowledged as the UAE Bank of the Year, in the last 5-years.

NBAD Chief Executive Mr Michael H Tomalin noted that, “UAE Bank of the Year 2004 award is yet another testament of our prudent 5-year strategic planning process, which puts the customer at the heart of our business”.

As the UAE’s largest bank, NBAD has heralded a landmark 12 months with a number of key successes ranging from record profits to winning of highly coveted business excellence awards to the unprecedented expansion of its investment and retail products and services portfolio.

NBAD was No.1 in profitability amongst all UAE banks in 2002 and 2003 and is continuing with the trend. First-half 2004 net profit figures reflect an increase of 28% over the corresponding period last year.

NBAD is No.1 in organizational excellence, being the only bank in UAE to win two business excellence awards in a single year, in addition to winning the Best Corporate Bank award in 2004.

In February 2004, NBAD was awarded the Dubai Quality Award. Later in May 2004, NBAD was recognized as the first UAE organization to receive the prestigious Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Gold Award in May 2004.

“Our commitment to all our stakeholders is further reinforced after being recognized as the UAE Bank of the Year 2004. We will continue to surprise and delight our stakeholders”, added Mr Tomalin. (menareport.com)
