Industry sources recently announced the opening a mega retail Lulu hypermarket, to cover a 60,000 square foot area in Aden, Yemen, marking the first entry of the Abu Dhabi based retailer, Emke, into the Yemeni market.
The new market, located in Yemen’s Aden Mall, will have separate areas dedicated for various product categories and be strategically and uniquely laid out to enable leisurely and efficient shopping, said a company statement according to reports in Gulf News.
The Lulu market will offer a multitude of provisions and fresh produce ranging from garments to electronic goods, amongst others.
The opening of the new market represents a positive step for the Yemenite economy and retail market, stressed Ahmad Mohammad Al Kuhlani, the Governor of Aden. Al Khulani, who inaugurated the event, was one of several dignitaries who attended the important event amid a gathering of exclusive guests.
"This is a very encouraging sign for the economy and business sector of Yemen and the government will give full support for further development of similar projects," Al Khulani stated.
The important ceremony was attended by Dr Khalid Rageh Shaikh, Minister of Trade and Industries, and Ahmad Hayel Saeed, managing director of Hayel Saeed Anam.
