Malik bin Sulaiman al-Ma'amari, Oman's Transport and Telecommunications Minister on Sunday opened Fahoud Airport, built at a cost of RO 1 million in the wilayat of Ibri in the Dhahirah region.
According to ONA, the project, implemented by the PDO, is the first airport established in the oil concession area. The airport was completed within 18 month. It has a 2,400 meter long runway.
The minister said the new airport would serve citizens of the region as it receives 3 to 4 flights per day. The airport is to be used by the ATR 42/500 aircraft operated by Oman Air on behalf of the PDO. The Lit runway could also receive Boeing 737 aircraft.
