30,000 new jobs could be created in Bahrain, while industry's contribution to local economy could be tripled over the next decade under a new financial program proposed by Bahrain's Industry and Commerce Ministry.

The 18-month plan, according to Gulf Daily News, aims to triple industry's contribution to Bahrain's economy from 12 percent to 36 percent over the course of a decade, while three-quarters of the new jobs created are expected to pay extremely competitive salaries.

"The strategy focuses mainly on coming up with funds to assist investments and increase them," said Dr. Hassan Fakhro while speaking to the Shura Council.

"It aims at enhancing the innovation capacity through industrial creativity and research centers," he said, adding, "The strategy brings businessmen and the government together to help raise the industrial sector."

Fakhro added that the ministry was also working to reform legislation and encourage investment.
