Announcements of intentions to target several of Dubai's property developers for the new ActiSuite product by software maker, Active Mania, and computer chipmaker, Intel, were made last week.
ActiSuite is the latest digital entertainment system offered by the two companies, combining television and an internet into one package, according to Khaleej Times. The package, unveiled last fall, will provide local and cable television, internet browsing, games, music storage, pictures and DVDs, and home surveillance via mobile devices for home usage.
Dubai's master-planned communities will be the first customers to which the new product will be marketed.
"Broadband is a key ingredient, so a certain focus of ours is big cities…while Turkey, Cairo and Morocco are important markets for this product," said Wolfgang Petersen, director of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Intel.
"Dubai is of special interest to us," he pointed out, adding, "There are big undertakings in Dubai where they are trying to be state of the art from not only an architectural point of view but also a technology point of view."
UAE developments such as Festival City and the Dubai Waterfront will likely come pre-wired with fast internet connections, in sharp contrast to the rest of the Middle East, where only 20 percent of household use the internet.
