The Egyptian Petroleum Minister, Sameh Fahmi, has announced that several new oil pipelines were recently operated to carry crude oil products from the refining and production sites to the end-consumers on time.

Al-Ahram newspaper has reported that an oil pipeline was opened for the purpose of shipping crude petroleum from the oil fields in Ras Badran and Fayran Valley regions in Sinai to the Valley region through the Gulf of Suez.

This pipeline will reduce the costs of oil shipments, since oil shipments were previously carried out by trucks.

In addition, Xinhua News Agency Bulletin reported that Egypt recently signed contracts to ship natural gas to Spain and the USA. In order to supply the necessary quantities of gas inside the country as well as to the international clients, the local gas manufacturing sector has plans to expand its production capacity.

Minister Fahmi, asserted the report, revealed that natural gas is currently being used in 1.4 million housing units throughout Egypt, while plans for an additional 700,000 are expected to be fulfilled within the upcoming three years.

An additional plan calls for the construction of a natural pipeline to link between Israel and Egypt, while the idea to lengthen this pipeline so that it reaches Turkey is also being taken into consideration. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
