New shrimp-breeding farm opens in Iran

A shrimp-breeding farm was officially inaugurated in Rig port in Gonaveh, Bushehr province on Tuesday. 

 

The head of the Gonaveh fishery department, Asghar Dashtizadeh, said that the farm, along with its government and private credit facilities, has already been ceded to its shrimp breeders. 

 

"Measuring 672 hectares, the farm has been divided into 28 24-hectare farms, each measuring 19.2 hectares." A total of 5.8 billion rials has been spent for infrastructure installations on the farm of which 2.8 billion rials was invested by the private sector and the rest by the province in the form of provincial development credits," he added, according to IRNA

 

He predicted that once the project is completed and all shrimp-breeding farms become operational, more than 1,500 tons of shrimp would be produced each harvest. 

 

Morover, he said the entire project is inclined to create some 700 direct employment opportunities and 2,000 indirect ones after it is fully implemented. The farm is the seventh largest in the entire Bushehr province. (menareport.com)
