The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT), the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) and the University of Jordan have collaborated to bring a host of international experts to Jordan to deliver information and technical advice about a rapidly growing trend, OpenSource Software.

Recognizing the importance of tapping into global trends that improve the scope of the Jordanian developer repertoire, the public and private partnership hopes to continue to bring in technical experts as a long-term initiative.

Jordan’s development community supplies many of the outsourced skills and services that are used throughout the Middle East and broadening these will not only create a regional center of expertise, but complements the national ICT strategy to develop an ICT sector that contributes to the larger part of the Jordanian economy.

There has been rapid take up of Open Source Software from governments and learning institutions around the world, and recent converts to Open Source Software include the governments of China, the UK and Germany. — (menareport.com)
