To speed up the early part of the car development process, from drawing board to design frieze, a 5.5 metre wide projector screen known as a power wall, has been installed into a specially designed room at Nissan’s world famous design centre in Paddington, London.

The power wall enables decision makers to sit together in one room and view full size 3D images of their new designs, with the ability to make on the spot changes.

Takeshi Nakajima, Nissan Middle East’s regional director, said: “The power wall technology plays a key role in taking actions confidently without the need for expensive clay modelling, saving both time and money."

Nakajima added: “Nissan is committed to bold designs for all its products. Such designs will be evident during the launch of our new models to the Middle East region over the coming 8 months after the successful launch of the legendary 350Z and the all-new Altima.

“Power wall will bring designer and decision makers together more often in order to accelerate projects and meet production commitments to all regions.”

As part of a global power wall concept, similar communication environments have been created for the Nissan San Diego Studio in California, Atsuki in Japan, and Farmington Hills, Michigan. (menareport.com)
