No Israeli firms have asked to take part in an international security and police equipment exhibition scheduled to be held in Doha between October 28-31, organizers told AFP on Tuesday. An official at the exhibition organizer said, "no Israeli firm has yet made a request to participate in Milipol," the world exhibition of internal state security, police equipment, industrial site security and civil defense.
A number of Israeli firms participated in the 1996 and 1998 editions of Milipol, also in the Qatari capital of Doha, but have since given up participation due to growing anti-Israeli sentiment in the Arab world over violence in the Palestinian territories.
Qatar's chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) has shut down an Israeli trade office, which opened in 1996, ahead of a summit hosted by Doha in 2000. — (menareport.com)
