The latest smartphone – Nokia 8 – was launched in the Middle East this month.
The Finnish company HMD Global, which owns the rights to sell Nokia-branded phones and tablets for 10 years, launched its first flagship gear.

HMD has already rolled out Nokia 3, 5 and 6 models in the market apart from the iconic Nokia 3310.
With this latest launch, the company capitalises on the erstwhile king of mobile phone brands from Finland to enter the highly competitive smartphone market.
The 5.3 inches Quad High Definition (1440 x 2560 pixels) Nokia 8 is powered by octa-core 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage capacity. The microSD card supports up to 256GB.
The same processor is powering the Samsung S8 and Note 8 models and Sony’s XZ Premium devices.
The new aluminum-made smartphone comes with a dual 13MP camera setup at the rear with Zeiss and a 13MP on the front. There is a 3,090mAh battery powering the phone with support for USB 3.1, Type-C reversible connector.
The device will be available within the next few weeks in Saudi Arabia and the UAE and priced at Dh1,699.
Nokia’s partnership with Zeiss stretches back to 2005 with models such as Nokia N90 and Nokia N95 — the first phone to come with a 5MP rear camera and the Nokia 808 PureView — which came with a whopping 41MP rear camera. It is the first in HMD’s device on both the front and rear.

The “Dual-Sight” feature allows users to full-HD livestream to Facebook and YouTube from both front and rear cameras and incorporates 360° spatial surround binaural audio recording through “OZO Audio” technology, which utilises three microphones with Nokia’s acoustic algorithms to capture audio with immersive surround sound. It can record 4K videos.
