With support from leading car communications solution provider Nokia, Nico Rosberg is geared up for the inaugural Bahrain Formula 3, set to run on the first Formula 1 track in the Middle East. This is an important outing for Nico, who is expected to mark the end of his Formula 3 career in Bahrain in preparation for a move up to the GP2 Series next year.

“I am pleased to team up with Nokia as I seek to lead the field and secure victory on the same track where Michael Schumacher inaugurated Formula 1 racing in the Middle East with his own win,” said the 19-year-old Nico, who comes to the Bahrain International Circuit fresh from training following the Macau Grand Prix. “My car was really flying in Macau because we found a good balance with the tires, and I hope we can do the same again here.”

The Bahrain SuperPrix, which will take place December 9-10, is one of three highlights of the Formula 3 season, along with Zandvoort in Holland and Macau, where the best drivers compete. The sport also has 11 national Formula 3 championships, including the British F3 Championship, the All Japan F3 Championship and the F3 Euro Series, where Nico made a strong fourth-place finish.

“Nokia, which has been setting the pace in car communications for years, is pleased to team up with such an exciting young driver as Nico for this inaugural Bahrain SuperPrix,” said Vesa Perälä, Marketing Director, Nokia Automotive. “As the adrenaline-fueled world of motorsport maintains its dramatic growth in the Middle East, Nokia is committed to supporting it and other thrilling sports for the entertainment of spectators and fans.”
