Norsat International has confirmed that three Norsat NewsLink portable satellite terminals, designed to enable high quality live broadcasting from remote areas, are now operational in Kuwait and ready for full deployment by their news network owners.

The units, two of which were purchased by New-York based CBS News and a third by a second unnamed US network news organization, were delivered by Norsat engineers early this week, thoroughly tested, and are now ready for news gathering operations.

The Norsat NewsLink will allow these two news broadcasters to file reports from any remote area in the region. Norsat's engineers, on location in Kuwait City, have noted that other broadcasters are restricted in their remote broadcasting capabilities and have set up their traditional "flyaway" equipment on hotel roofs on Kuwait City.

Norsat International designs and markets satellite products for high-speed data transmission, including the Norsat OmniLink group of portable satellite terminals for application in remote or hostile environments. — (menareport.com)
