The Northern Municipal Council has overruled a government decision to temporarily ban landowners from building at areas directed for the new highway to the BD1 billion Northern Town.
According to the GDN, Bahrain's Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry promised to lift the ban by last May. However, the council received complaints from landowners who said they still could not construct homes because the Northern Municipality was not allowing them. Councillors sent a warning earlier last week to the municipality, calling it to implement the council's decision, but no response has been received yet, said council technical committee chairman Juma Al Aswad.
