Canada’s Odyssey Resources has reported that the first phase of work on its 50/50 joint mining venture project with BHP Billiton in southeastern Turkey has been completed.
The program, with a jointly funded $300,000 budget, was conceived to assess a 150,000 square kilometer region interpreted to host the same tectonic belt as that which hosts a number of significant copper-gold porphyry deposits in neighboring Iran.
Following completion of a large-scale data compilation and synthesis program including geological and geo-chemical data, processed LANDSAT remote sensing imagery, and other information, Odyssey geologists investigated over 50 locations in the field. Three potential areas with favorable geological features for porphyry style mineralization have been identified.
A comprehensive report has been prepared and recently presented to BHP Billiton. Plans are currently being prepared, to include joint field follow up and license acquisitions, as appropriate. The partners are also planning to adjust the boundaries of the JV area of interest to include new prospective areas identified by Odyssey personnel. — (menareport.com)
