According to Al-Sabaah newspaper, members of the Al-Najaf Governorate Council have recently met representatives of an American company and a Kuwaiti company to discuss the reconstruction of the old airport in southern Al-Najaf city.
This airport was used for military purposes by the former Iraqi regime. Mr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Mosaway, Head of Council, said that the city's stability and security is a pre-condition for reconstructing the airport and promoting tourism and economic activity in the city. He added that several companies, including Iraqi companies, had bid to reconstruct the airport. All these proposals are currently being evaluated, the council head stressed.
