Oman Air and Gulf Air on Sunday signed at Al Bustan Palace Hotel an agreement to use the shared code in some of their flights. The agreement was signed by Abdul Rahman bin Harith al Busaidi and James Hogan, executive presidents of the two companies.
In a joint press conference, Al Busaidi said the agreement would help establish a partnership between the two airlines in the Middle East and find grounds for joint cooperation among them. According to him, the Omani government owns 33% in Oman Air and 33% in the Gulf Air.
He added the shared code agreement would attract more passengers particularly in the Gulf, Europe and East Africa and would enhance cooperation in flights between the two airliners on AGCC, East Africa, Indian Sub-continent and European routes.
Quoted by ONA, he said the agreement covered training and computer fields.
For his part, Hogan said the agreement would prevent dualism in routes of the two carriers. He said the Gulf Air would sign several cooperation agreements with other airliners during the upcoming period.
