Omani government officials who have been working to implement the Intellectual Property Rights Law in the Sultanate will be honored on March 29, at a special ceremony to be hosted by Oman's Ministry of National Economy and Business Software Alliance (BSA).
The award function is a felicitation from the Information Technology (IT) industry to Omani officials and government bodies for their increasing support and commitment to adopting and upholding intellectual property right laws, according to a Business Software Alliance (BSA) press release.
This is the first time that such a function is being held in the region. “Oman offers one of the most favorable business climates for IT investment and growth in the region," said BSA Middle East Co-Chairman Jawad Al-Redha.
"The usage of original software at all government departments sends across a positive message to the industry," said Al-Redha. "These steps are encouraging foreign investment and boosting the IT industry in Oman, as they clearly underline the Omani Government's commitment towards supporting both the local and global IT industry."
BSA is an international organization representing leading software and e-commerce developers in 65 countries around the world. Established in 1988, BSA has offices in the United States, Europe and Asia.
As the voice of the software industry, BSA helps governments and consumers understand how software strengthens the economy, worker productivity and global development and how its further expansion hinges on the successful fight against software piracy and Internet theft.
BSA's efforts include educating computer users about software copyrights; advocating public policy that fosters innovation and expands trade opportunities; and fighting software piracy. — (menareport.com)
