More than 10,000 people are expected to visit the first Arab Jewelry & Watch Exhibition scheduled for April 17-21 in Muscat.

The event is organized by the Emirates exhibition services company and will be held in the Oman International Exhibition Center. Local and foreign firms have already secured their participation in this event, al Ittihad daily reported.

The Omani jewelry market is an important one in the Gulf region. It was boosted recently when the government decided to slash customs duty to 5 percent on most of the imported goods. Omani sources revealed to the daily that Muscat Jewelry 2000 Exhibition is the first of many other displays to be held in the Sultanate.
