Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad al Rumhi, Oman's Minister of Oil and Gas, disclosed that 17 concession agreements for oil and gas exploratory operations are being carried out at present by 11 companies in 21 blocks.
In remarks published by <i>Al Watan</i> newspaper Monday, the Minister said efforts continue to be mounted to attract as many international companies as possible to explore for oil and gas in the Sultanate.
According to the Minister, the Omani government places significant emphasis on gas exploration especially in PDO blocks and within the context of the government oil and gas exploration programme. He said about a trillion CF of gas was added to the Sultanate’s reserves and hoped that another trillion CF of gas would be added towards the end of this year.
