Sahara Center, a new shopping and entertainment center due to open February 20 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has signed up the home department furniture store, THE One, to open its first outlet in Sharjah. With 11,206 square feet, anchor store THE One will offer furniture retailing as well as a café and restaurant located next to the showroom.
Sahara Center, which, comprises approximately 500,000 square feet of retail space, with over 90 percent already leased, according to a company press release, will introduce several other retail brands for the first time in the region. Additional anchors include Debenham’s, Century Cinemas and Adventureland, with the largest indoor entertainment complex in the Middle East.
Launched in 1994, THE One operates four outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, with new store openings planned for Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait and Doha. Jointly owned by Abdulrahman Bukhatir and Saeed Ghobash, the Sahara Center project is being built at a cost of 400 million Emirati dirhams ($109 million) in the Al-Nahda district of Sharjah. The total built-out area of the mall will be one million square feet, making it the largest shopping mall in the emirate of Sharjah. — (menareport.com)
