Dubai: 30 September, 2010 – It was standing room only last night when Dubai Ladies Club, a member of Dubai Women Establishment, proudly hosted the elegant and exclusive Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show in Al Mahara Ballroom, The Art Centre. The fashion show marked the spectacular climax to the Oriental Red Carpet Emerging Designer Contest 2010 when the four Emirati winners - Hessa Al Falasi (winner of Jalabiyas category), Hanadi Badu (winner of Abayas category), Moza Al Mazrou (winner of Ready-to-wear category) and Halima Al Sayegh (winner of Jewellery category) – debuted their collections to the media and a key local niche clientele for the first time. The event was supported by Swiss Arabian perfumes as Main Sponsors along with and L‟Officiel magazine, L‟Oreal Professional and Yves Saint Laurent cosmetics, Ghraoui Chocolates, Pink Pepper Photography as Supporting Partners.
Muna Bin Kalli, Executive Director of Dubai Ladies Club commented: “We are pleased to host the Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show for a third consecutive year. Our core objective in hosting and organizing such a major event is to encourage young Emirati female entrepreneurs and designers and help them achieve their career objectives. Moreover, I am proud to announce that the four Emirati designers will have the unique opportunity to travel London for a fashion extravaganza trip which will include tickets to London Fashion Week in February, 2011. Through this initiative we aim to give the young Emirati designers valuable exposure to learn about the international fashion scene and use that new found knowledge to expand their businesses in the UAE, which is a promise we take on our shoulders as a support to the young and dynamic local entrepreneurs.”
The event began at 19.30 when the awaiting media and guests that were gathered in the reception were introduced to an exhibition of Halima Al Sayegh‟s stunning jewellery which included adorned traditional daggers. The exhibition was followed by a fashion show. First up was Moza Al Mazrou‟s Ready-To-Wear collection that beautifully combined the charm of the East with the West. Next to present was Hessa Al Falasi with a stunning collection of Jalabiyas inspired by the charm of the old world elegance and sophistication mixed with the contemporary. The third and final collection was Hanadi Badou with her collection of Abayas with intricate detailing and feminine cuts.
The evening concluded with a special announcement that the four Emirati winners have also won a rare opportunity to travel to London for an exclusive fashion tour organized by Dubai Ladies Club in collaboration with Cheval Residences, VisitBritain, Westfields London and Emirates Airlines. The agenda for the excursion will include accommodation at the Cheval Residences (the Cheval Residences is London‟s undisputed leader in the provision of luxury serviced apartments with convenient locations in and around London, such as Hyde Park, Kensington and Knightsbridge to name a few), visits to high profile exclusive fashion events including tickets to London Fashion Week 2011 & Westfield London‟s fashion show. Moreover, the Emirati designers will also have meetings with renowned personalities from the international fashion world such as Dragana Perisic - who creates beautiful women‟s fashion in her „signature look‟ using her Suffolk Puffs as well as Barry Laden - CEO of The Laden Showroom.
During their stay in London, the designers will also visit Kensington Palace, the Fashion and Textile Museum in Bermondsey, Victoria and Albert Museum & Madame Tussauds museum, all courtesy of Visit Britain. The trip will take place in February 2011.
