Two radical Palestinian groups issued a call Thursday for the Arab summit to be held this weekend to use oil as a weapon to pressure the West to drop its support for Israel.
Arab countries "should exert economic pressures, notably with petroleum, on the American administration to force it to stop supporting Israel," according to a joint communiqué by the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The two groups, based in Damascus, also called on the summit to "adopt tangible measures to end economic and political relations with Israel and to stop normalization (of ties)" with the country.
The statement, received by AFP in Amman, also called for the creation of a special fund to "finance the protection of holy sites in Jerusalem and stop the judaization of the Holy City." — (AFP, Amman)
