Italy’s Pirelli has been awarded two major contracts valued at $20 million for the provision of overhead optical cable systems in Algeria.
The contracts have been signed with the system integrator Telecommunications Consultants of India (TCIL), and will provide the final customer, the Algerian power and gas company Sonelgaz, with an optical communications backbone.
The first contract covers 3,000 kilometers of optical ground wire (OPGW) to be installed on energized 220 kilovolts overhead transmission lines on a turnkey basis. The second contract covers 1,000 kilometers of lashed cable to be installed on energized 220 kilovolts overhead transmission lines using a Pirelli robotized system.
Pirelli's business is centered on the key markets of tires, energy cables and systems, telecoms cables and systems and real estate. The company has more than more than 12,000 employees and 50 plants in 22 countries and total sales of more than €3.02 million. — (menareport.com)
