‘Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum’ Hosts Launch Ceremony of ‘Entro for Kids Program’
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF) hosted the launch ceremony of ‘Entro for Kids Program’ under the patronage of HE Eng. Mothanna Gharaibeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. The ceremony was held in the presence of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), in addition to a host of representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth, community institutions and companies.
The Kid Entrepreneurs Program is designed to mentor and support schoolchildren aged 14-18 in the north, the middle and the south of Jordan. It is supported by King Abdullah II Center for Excellence, the Tank by Umniah (a business incubator for startups in Jordan), the Ideas Factory initiative by the Crown Prince Foundation in addition to TAG-KF.
In his opening speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined the need to invest in innovative minds, stressing that invention and creativity are the best means for boosting national economy.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the efforts of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in supporting entrepreneurship in the era of rapid development in Information and Communications Technology.
Most importantly, he affirmed the need to expand in establishing funding agencies for innovation and inventions instead of investing in real-estate business reiterating that innovation is a key driver for wealth creation not in real estate market.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized the significance of education for the purpose of innovation in all fields and not just in education for certification, referring to the importance of graduating innovators who become employers not job seekers.
Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh revealed that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global has already finalized the manufacturing of electronic devices which are currently available on markets including TAGITOP- Multi, TAGITOP-Plus and TAG-DC Tablet with specifications that meet the needs of schoolchildren from elementary to university education. That is in addition to other work purposes enabling transformation to digital users that affords them easier and quicker access to knowledge.
For his part Minister Gharaibeh, reaffirmed Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s emphasis on the importance of investment in innovation and startups noting that the Jordanian Expats Network was established in Dubai to explore the innovative ideas and Jordanians entrepreneurs inside and outside the country. The Minister underscored the importance of investing in people not in real estate expressing pride in the ‘Entro for Kids’ initiative which guides new generations of entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Mr. Fadi Daoud, Executive Director of TAG-KF welcomed the attendees and participants saying that the Forum’s support to ‘Entro for Kids Program’ is attributed to the belief in the importance of a knowledge economy, entrepreneurship and creativity.
Ms. Samar Obeidat, Founder and CEO at Entro Gate, gave a presentation on the program which has been adopted by the Ministry of Education in the curriculum of vocational education for five years.
She also underlined the importance of teaching and training students on entrepreneurship at early ages to stimulate their creative thinking to guide them to the right direction for building and starting their own small ideas.
‘Entrepreneurship for Kids Program’ is the first of its kind in Jordan that targets school students at early ages providing them with training on the Science of Entrepreneurship to equip them with the required tools of innovation, creativity, digital learning, Artificial Intelligence and other life skills that an entrepreneur must have. The Program seeks to raise a new creative generation that is capable of driving Jordan’s national economy by transforming creative ideas into innovative entrepreneurship projects through specialized training programs.
During the ceremony, a panel session was organized under the name ‘Status of Entrepreneurship in Jordan’, with the participation of a number of experts including Mr. Tareq Al Kharabsheh, Entrepreneurship Program Manager at King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), Mr. Ismail Haqqi, TechWorks Manger, Ms. Hind Al Helo, Principal of Um Ma'abad High School for Girls, Ms. Nicole Shahein, from Umniah’s The Tank Business Incubator, in addition to Ms. Safa’a Sukaria, Co-Founder and Manger of Safa’a for Home Maintenance and Training Company.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh honored Minister Gharaibeh, and honorary shields were presented to participants in the panel session for their efforts and achievements in entrepreneurship and information technology sector.
