2012 Lexus GX 460 Luxury SUV offers exceptional blend of luxurious on and off-road capabilities

The new GX features new wheel design with high gloss finish. The Platinum grade enjoys the exceptional Mark Levinson audio system and Rear Seat Entertainment giving rear seat passengers an enhanced video, music and gaming experience.

The vehicle’s exceptional driving performance is supported through a series of advanced technologies underpinned by its powerful V8 engine. The GX460 powertrain comprises a 4.6 litre V8 engine delivering 292 horsepower coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In order to deliver maximum off-road driving enjoyment, the GX460 comes equipped with a series of advanced technologies. These supportive off-road features include Crawl Control, a Steering Angle Indicator, the world’s most advanced braking and traction system, Multi-terrain Select, and the sophisticated Multi-terrain Monitor.

Crawl Control maintains extremely low speeds by automatically controlling the accelerator and brake, allowing the driver to fully concentrate on steering and proceed confidently through rocky terrain. In off-road situations where hard left and right steering operation is required, the Steering Angle Indicator enables drivers to check the angle and direction of the wheels, allowing the vehicle to be operated calmly and confidently.

The driver can choose from one of the four Multi-terrain Select modes – ‘mud and sand’, ‘loose rock’, ‘mogul’ and ‘rock’ - to match road conditions, signalling the vehicle to automatically set traction based on moment-by-moment conditions. When the appropriate mode is engaged, the New GX460 is able to continuously deliver optimum traction. The Multi-terrain Monitor can be used when Multi-terrain Select is in operation, allowing drivers to check their surroundings and minimize blind spots. For the second row seats, walk-in and slide functions are adopted along with 40:20:40 split folding seat back. The third row seats feature a power flush with floor function which automatically folds and stows the seats flush with the floor at the touch of a button, providing a diverse range of storage usage scenarios. Small amounts of cargo can be accessed in the luggage compartment by opening the glass hatch separately.

In terms of preventative safety features, the GX460 offers a Pre-Crash Safety System that warns drivers of potential collisions and minimizes impact should a collision occur. The Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) boosts visibility when cornering. Collision safety features also aim to protect the safety of every occupant. These include Front Active Headrests that reduce the risk of whiplash during a rear collision and an advanced Supplement Restraint System (SRS) including driver and front row passenger knee airbags and roll sensing curtain airbags to protect even those riding in the third-row seats.
