The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) is completing decorative lighting of Abu Dhabi city and suburban areas involving the installation of 2750 lighting configurations in main streets, public squares, and bridges in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan. The step reflects the commitment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities – Abu Dhabi City Municipality – to provide a joyful environment that reflects the values of the holy month and its spiritual manifestations. The Dhabi is basking in glittering lights radiating an atmosphere of faith, tranquillity and exclusivity characterising Abu Dhabi during this holy month.

The decorative lighting project undertaken by Abu Dhabi City Municipality is modelled by Islamic configurations inspired by the spirit of the holy month to add more beauty and serenity to Abu Dhabi streets and suburbs befitting the uniqueness of the month.

The massive number of lighting designs and models amounting to 1400 shapes comprising 26 different designs installed across Abu Dhabi city replicate the core denotations of the blessed month and an array of spiritual expressions. Additionally, 1350 decorative pieces of different sorts lighting models will be hanging on trees creating endless inspirations.

This year, the Municipality has introduced new designs over and above the previous ones, such as lanterns hanging on trees in a bid to share the joy of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan with community members. As such, the Municipality is aiming to add expressive lighting models to domes, crescents and rostrums of mosques as well as other iconic Islamic patterns. Ramadan lighting scheme will be glowing all over city starting from May 10th up to and until the end of the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

The illuminating lighting configurations span several districts including Abu Dhabi Corniche, King Abdullah Street, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street, Sheikh Zayed Street, bridges, roundabouts and several other vital public facilities in Abu Dhabi and suburban areas. Examples of the typical Ramadan luminous expressions include Ramadan Al Khair, Ramadan Kareem, Mubarak Ramadan, and the Month of Ramadan.

The Municipality is keen on adopting top quality materials to ensure the safety of community members and the environment. It has used high-quality electric cables, circuit breakers, plastic insulators, synthetic humps and LED power-saving lights.
