Abu Dhabi University’s College of Business Administration the 1st and only to be awarded EQUIS international accreditation in ME
Abu Dhabi University’s College of Business Administration has achieved a new and momentous milestone as the first and only higher education institution in the Middle East to receive international academic accreditation from the prestigious "EQUIS”, the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. Created by the “European Foundation for Management Development -EFMD”, EQUIS provides a reliable indication of international quality in business and management education, a significant level of internationalization, and integration with the corporate world.
Commenting on this new accolade, H.E Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board explained that this addition to Abu Dhabi University’s repertoire of international accreditations represents its keenness to continue on its journey of academic excellence and scientific leadership that translates the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership for ADU to be an incubator of creativity and scientific innovation, and a center for intellectual and cultural outputs. “With this renowned international accreditation, Abu Dhabi University’s College of Business joins the elite 1% of top business schools worldwide who have been accredited by both EQUIS (Europe) and AACSB (USA) . This is not only a solid testament to the quality of our academic programs, students and faculty, but it also demonstrates the College’s dedication to effectively disseminating knowledge to the community, focusing on executive education to enhance corporate connections, and a clearly articulated strategy and policies for internationalization”, added Bin Harmal.

Moreover, the fact that ADU achieved this accreditation within one year as opposed to the average of three years speaks volumes, and we are extremely proud that we managed to add such a significant achievement to ADU’s already ever-growing record of accomplishments”, added Dr. Nazmy.
On his part Dr. Jacob Chacko, Dean of ADU’s College of Business Administration explained that EQUIS international accreditation helped the business college build on our strong academic programs by prompting our faculty to develop close linkages to corporations, practitioners, international universities to develop partnerships. International partnerships with well-known universities in USA and Australia have already resulted in dual degree programs, student exchanges, study abroad programs, international faculty exchanges and joint research projects. “Throughout their visits, the EQUIS peer –review team were impressed with many of the College’s collegial environment, focus on business sustainability, the innovative programs that cater to the needs of the labor market, as well as the College’s corporate connections with various industries which ensures a balance between achieving international academic standards while maintaining professional relevance to the corporate world. EQUIS opens up new horizons for students and graduates and gives them the unique opportunity of leveraging their internationally recognized degree to gain a foothold in Global companies and organizations”, added Dr. Chacko.
Abu Dhabi University
The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Unlike other colleges and universities in the UAE, ADU undertook the measures necessary to ensure that all of the degree programs it would offer had secured accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in advance of any students enrolling in them.
ADU offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees based upon the American model of higher education.
