Abu Dhabi University to build new AED 37.75 Million for its Engineering College

With the constant growing demand of students applying to enroll at Abu Dhabi University, the University has started construction on its Abu Dhabi campus for a new AED 37.75 million building dedicated to the Engineering College that will spread over an area of 9,200 m2 , thereby increasing the College’s capacity. The new addition that is set to be unveiled in August 2016, will house 12 new classrooms, 110 faculty offices, multi-purpose and meeting rooms, in addition to 30 labs that will cater to the different specialties of engineering offered at the University, including: civil, mechanical, electrical, computer and chemical engineering, as well as aviation, information technology, interior design and architecture.
Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim asserted that the new academic year 2015- 2016 will witness the implementation of a comprehensive plan to update and enhance the University’s facilities, including this new addition dedicated to centralize the College of Engineering on Abu Dhabi campus. “Our Engineering College is perhaps the largest in terms of the number of students enrolled in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The College has 2,077 students enrolled in 9 undergraduate programs and 144 students enrolled in 8 postgraduate programs, making up 30% of our student population. We’re even expecting more demand on our Engineering programs especially since the College was awarded international academic accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET for three of its programs this past academic year”, explained Dr. Ibrahim.
Dr. Ibrahim pointed out that the University ensured the new building was designed according to the highest international modern standards to provide students with an enriching educational environment that caters to their various academic needs. “We’ve also started the implementation of our annual plan to ensure that all our facilities are in top-shape to welcome the upcoming semester of the academic year 2015-2016, and our new and continuing students, faculty and staff. This plan focuses on the renovation and maintenance of classrooms, labs, equipment, networks and infrastructure on both University campuses.
