Abu Dhabi University (ADU), an internationally recognized academic institution for quality education and applied research, is joining the country’s public and private sector entities in marking the UAE Innovation Month across its three campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai with a host of engaging activities.

Throughout February, ADU organizes a series of events to instill the spirit of innovation and creativity among its community, including dedicated thought workshops, exhibitions, seminars and conferences such as the “Innovation in Zayed Era”, an exhibition which features photos, articles and videos reflecting the innovative achievements in Zayed Era. Moreover, the University will hold innovative brainstorming sessions with the employees to generate projects for specific objectives.

On a daily basis throughout the month of February, ADU will publish real innovation stories. Additionally, the University will run a competition for students based on three themes: Green Campus Happy Campus, ADU Students Excel, and ADU Gives Back.

Concluding the month, the University will inaugurate on 28th February Abu Dhabi University Innovation Center at its Abu Dhabi campus. Dedicated to fostering an ecosystem conducive to sparking creativity, the Innovation Center will serve as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in the UAE and will enable students to hone their entrepreneurial mindset and skills to transform the seed of an idea into reality.

Additionally, ADU has recently launched a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Combining theory with experiential learning, the degree program will prepare students to seize future entrepreneurship opportunities. The degree will cover areas of entrepreneurial creativity and innovation, social entrepreneurship, venture feasibility, business plan development, and family business management strategy.

In addition to specifically innovation related courses, ADU incorporates innovative approaches and development of future skills in all courses across all colleges and disciplines. Through core and elective coursework, faculty at Abu Dhabi University encourage their students to develop and demonstrate innovative skills and out-of-the-box thinking.

Dr. Petra Turkama, Director of Innovation and Assistant Professor of Management, said: “Innovation has always been a core priority at ADU. In line with the vision of our leaders and the UAE National Innovation Strategy, the University fosters an enabling learning ecosystem that promotes innovation across a wide variety of disciplines. Our new BBA program testifies to our commitment to educating a new generation of UAE graduates that will play a vital role in further developing our nation.”

Dr. Petra added: “Innovation matters, and we are pleased to contribute to crystallizing ground-breaking ideas and developing creative solutions to future challenges. We are confident our activities and initiatives for the UAE Innovation Month will enable our students and faculty in showcasing their most innovative projects. Efforts such as this one go a long way in supporting our government’s sustained drive to shape an innovation-led knowledge economy.”

ADU offers 44 locally and internationally accredited academic programs – 29 undergraduate programs and 15 postgraduate programs. The University’s new campus in Dubai specializes in postgraduate studies, and accepts students for diploma, master’s and PhD programs across 14 areas of specialization.
