HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), received in his office HE Mr. Lee Jae-wan, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Jordan, to discuss cooperation with academic and professional bodies in South Korea in various fields.

During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated that TAG.Global has been providing its professional services in South Korea through its office in Seoul since 2015 noting that its work volume with Korean companies in 2019 exceeded $2million.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to similarity between Jordan and Korea in terms of scarcity of natural resources which drove Korea towards developing education, training and investment in human resources to compensate resources’ scarcity, eventually resulted in making the country one of the world’s top ten countries with the highest GDP.

Furthermore, the two parties discussed the proposal for establishing a Korean cultural center in collaboration with TAG.Global on the model of Abu-Ghazaleh Global’s partnership with China, to spread Korean language and culture: TAG.Global has been cooperating with the Republic of China through Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation (TAG-Foundation) to promote and teach Chinese language in Jordan since 2008.

In higher education, the two parties agreed on signing partnerships and cooperation agreements between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation (TAGUCI) and Korean universities to exchange students and develop co-branded professional and educational programs, as Jordan requires various professional specialties.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed hopes that TAGUCI would benefit from the Korean expertise, particularly in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning field, noting that the University College is currently working on the establishment of the largest business incubator in the region.

Regarding Arabic language, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that TAG.Global has recently launched the Arabic Fluency Placement Test in accordance with international standards and finalized the ‘Teaching Arabic Language Program’ for non-native speakers, underlining the possibility of cooperating with Korean entities to teach Arabic language in Korea by accrediting a Korean entity to implement the training program.

At the end of their meeting, the two parties agreed on signing agreements and partnerships between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh-Academy (TAG-Academy) and specialized Korean agencies in capacity building, in view of the fact that TAG-Academy offers more than 500  capacity building training programs and could develop joint programs through this cooperation.
