Acer moves up to No. 3 spot in worldwide consumer PC market
Acer has made progress in the Consumer PC market in December 2014, with improvements across North America, EMEA and Pan Asia. Acer’s notebook portfolio along with year-end promotions for the holiday shopping season have attributed considerably to this development.
In the North American consumer notebook market, Acer overtook Dell to take the No. 5 position. In Pan Asia, Acer unseated Dell to take the No. 4 spot for consumer PCs. In EMEA during Q4 2014, Acer was in a tight race to the finish line with HP for the No. 1 position in consumer notebooks. The two companies were often within a fraction of percentage points in market share2 from each other.
With its strong product offering and growing share in the consumer PC market across multiple regions, Acer is making steady progress. The combined NPD and GfK data showed that in December Acer has moved up the ranks to become the No. 3 player worldwide.
Since its founding in 1976, Acer has achieved the goal of breaking the barriers between people and technology. Globally, Acer ranks No. 2 for total PCs and notebooks. A profitable and sustainable Channel Business Model is instrumental to the company's continuing growth, while its multi-brand approach effectively integrates Acer, Gateway, Packard Bell, and eMachines brands in worldwide markets.
