ADCB gears up for its annual Breast Cancer awareness campaign
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) is preparing to kick-off its Breast Cancer awareness campaign during October and November 2015. ADCB has established itself as a key contributor to Breast Cancer awareness in the UAE through a 5 years standing history of renowned educational, medical examination and fund raising initiatives.
ADCB’s sponsored events are set to launch early October, the global Breast Cancer Awareness month. The initiatives aim to educate the local community in the UAE about breast cancer, highlight the importance of taking the required measures for early detection, as well as raising funds to support breast cancer research in the UAE. The events are gaining popularity every year, and attracting an impressive number of participants, especially the ADCB ZSC Pink 5 & 10k Run, scheduled this year for 16th October, and the ADCB Pink Polo on November 6th, at Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club in conjunction with Abu Dhabi Health Authority.
All raised funds through ADCB Tree of Hope will be donated to Al Jalila Foundation, a UAE-based philanthropic organization. The Tree of Hope along with the Lifeline Mobile Mammogram unit, which will offer free mammograms to the public, will be available at all ADCB’s sponsored events. ADCB ATM users will have the opportunity to donate one Dirham towards the Breast Cancer Charity at the end of each transaction in October.
Majdi Abdel Muhdi, Head of Corporate Communications at ADCB said: “Every year ADCB renew its commitment to supporting our community in its fight against breast cancer through a number of planned initiatives. Our moral duty goes beyond the financial contribution; spreading a message of hope among breast cancer patients, and encouraging and supporting women to take the early detection test through our sponsored mobile mammogram unit.”
ADCB extends its Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to its employees through Wellness Day, which covers all of ADCB branches across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain during the month of October. Dedicated interactive seminars will be held for all staff with nutritionists, doctors and cancer survivors, and will highlight breast cancer prevention and detection, and health tips. The Wellness on Wheels mammogram will be made available for ADCB employees in the country.
