Abu Dhabi City Municipality Issues 244 Construction Site Offences in Al Shamkha

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has cracked down on building sites in Al Shamkha South in order to curb malpractices in breach of to the law governing building and construction works. The campaign also meant to verify the enforcement of public safety & environmental protection laws in the surroundings of construction sites under the provisions of Building Works Law No. 4 of 1983 and its executive regulations.

These campaigns showcase the keen attention of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities to implement the regulations and laws governing building and construction while protecting the environment from pollutants and waste resulting from such activities. The campaigns were also intended to ensure the safety & public health standards for all community members as spelled out in City’s Urban Appearance & Public Tranquility Law.

During the campaigns, the municipal inspectors issued 244 offences relating to non-compliance of construction sites with the law applicable by Abu Dhabi City Municipality. The civic body highlighted the importance of fulfilling all building requirements as well as health and safety regulations & environment conservation laws be it at construction sites or when transporting & dumping construction waste. 

The Municipality called on the owners of and workers at construction sites to actively support in the Municipality's efforts to maintain public safety, provide the highest standards of safety & security at all work/construction sites, and comply with the waste transporting & dumping requirements in order to ensure the highest standards of public health & safety in Abu Dhabi and suburbs. The Municipality reminded building contractors of the importance of complying with the general stipulations governing these activities, which is their responsibility in the first place, thus reflecting their keenness to maintain health and safety of community members. 

The Municipality will continue such campaigns and monitor the construction sites to spot violations undermining the public interest, as per the provisions of Building Works Law No. 4 of 1983 and its executive regulations.
