ADM Retrieves 26 Tons of Waste from Musffah Water Canal

Abu Dhabi City Municipality, in cooperation with its strategic partners and scores of volunteers including Emirates Diving Team, Emirates Diving Center and Oman Diving Team, retrieved more than 26 tons of waste from the Musaffah Water Canal. The initiative was a part of a general cleanup campaign themed ‘Towards Cleaner Environment’ carried out yesterday from 7 am to 5 pm in Musaffah area.

The campaign comes in realization of the values of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who announced 2017 as UAE's Year of Giving. The move also came as part of the efforts made by Urban Planning & Municipalities Department and its strategic partners to combat the negative phenomena marring the general appearance of the city and protect the marine environment.

The canal anti-litter campaign was carried out by 50 volunteer divers who played a key role in realizing the objectives of the campaign. They exerted great efforts to collect as much waste as possible from the waterway. The Municipality appreciates the volunteers’ societal responsibility and voluntary initiatives, which showcase their high moral character & societal values and reflects their keenness on preserving the environment and maintaining the aesthetic appearance of the city. The civic body greatly appreciates their contribution to making the campaign a success.

The Municipality vowed to continue its efforts to promote the principles of societal responsibility and bolster cooperation with partners in serving the community and the environment alike.
