AkzoNobel, a leading global paints & coatings company, has underlined its commitment to supporting the UAE’s goal of promoting talent development and innovation, by hosting 10 dedicated training programmes developed by Al-Futtaim Automotive for its staff members at the new AkzoNobel Application Training Centre in Dubai.

The advanced training modules are designed by Al-Futtaim to build staff capacity and deepen their knowledge of paints and coatings.

Stephen Saywell, Performance Coatings Director Middle East, said: “Al-Futtaim Automotive is one of the key players in the motoring industry in the UAE, and we are delighted to serve them even better by hosting their training programmes at our facility. This is a true testament to the strong partnership that we have developed. The centre now serves as a hub for stronger customer collaboration, and in driving localised research and innovation.”

Ralf Zimmermann, Managing Director of Aftersales Services at Al-Futtaim Automotive Group said: “We have a great partnership with AkzoNobel, our main supplier for all our coatings. The Application Training Centre is a significant investment by the company, and we will leverage it to train our technicians in the entire region. Our technicians are impressed with the functionality of the facility and the scope of the training programmes, and we are confident that the year-long sessions will enable us to strengthen customer service standards. We undertake such regular training programmes to improve our service levels consistently.”

AkzoNobel’s Application Training Centre will host about 50 per cent of the training programmes on automotive paints by Al-Futtaim Automotive for its team members. This is facilitated by the cutting-edge industry equipment the centre has for Wet Paint and Powder where manual application is applicable. The participants can gain first-hand knowledge about the latest coatings processes and systems.

Narcis Sarda, Premium Sales Manager – Vehicle Refinishes at, AkzoNobel, said: “Our state-of-the-art Application Training Centre is easily accessible for our customers in the region. It has all the tooling and equipment they need, and enables us to showcase to customers and industry our latest technology, products and application techniques.”

The AkzoNobel Application Training Centre further supports the company’s focus on research and development, with over €363 million invested in R&D globally last year. The company has more than 4,000 scientists who drive innovation through an expanding portfolio of sustainable products.

With the region witnessing growth in both the automotive and aviation sectors, the Centre builds industry standards and support its customers in addressing challenges in the workplace relating to the choice and application of paints and coatings. The Centre is fully equipped to offer such training programmes for industries as diverse as rail, automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics.
