Al Bateen Executive Airport reports strong increase in Traffic through 2011

Al Bateen Executive Airport, operated and managed by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), today reporteda11% increase in overall commercial aviation movements when compared to 2010 and more than 50% increase in visitingbusiness aviation traffic.
These strong increases in a challenging economic climate demonstrate the success of the airport in attracting corporate and VIP clients into the only dedicated businessaviation airport in the GCC region.
Steve Jones, General Manager, Al Bateen Executive Airport commented:
“2011 was a very important and successful year for Al Bateen Executive Airport for several reasons.Not only did Al Bateen continue to grow our overall traffic strongly but it also managed to attract over 124 new first time international business aviation customers reflecting its growing international reputation as the preferred business aviation destination or stop over in the Middle East.
Furthermore the launch of the new DhabiJet FBO brand and the impressive dedicated pilot and crew facilities is a clear indication that Al Bateen intends to remain a world class Business Aviation Airport and provide the highest caliber FBO handling services.”
The year-end performance report for Al Bateen Executive Airport indicated that the airport registered8775 commercial aircraft movements in 2011.
Jones continued: “The development of DhabiJet and the new FBO and Flight Operations facilities means that visiting VIP customers and crew can now experience not only a highly professional handling service; but the best facilities. Many first time visitors to the new facilities are amazed and impressed at what Al Bateen has to offer and really appreciate the speed and efficiency of transiting in or out of the airport.”
2011 also witnessed the joining of new businesses to the airport’s network of companies and tenants such as Rotana Jet as a based aircraft operator, and Jet Aviation who is now offering various aviation services from Al Bateen Executive Airport.
Further developmentsare moving ahead on schedule as the airport progresses its strategic aim of being one of the best dedicated business airports in the world. This year will see the completion of the Gate Gourmet dedicated executive inflight catering facility, the completion of several refurbished hangars,the extension of available MRO facilities and the development of high end retail provision in the DhabiJet and VIP lounges.
2012 will also be notable for the first Abu Dhabi Air Expo event which will be held at the airport on March 6th, 7th and 8th. The Air Expo will play host to General Aviation exhibitors from all over the world and will be the Middle East’s leading general aviation exhibition featuring all of the latest products and innovations.
