Al Bustan Centre and Residence hosts delegates of 6th FAZZA International Athletics IPC Grand Prix Competition

Al Bustan Centre and Residence, the popular hotel apartments among visiting tourists and businessmen in the heart of Dubai, recently hosted the stay of delegates of the 6th FAZZA International Athletics IPC Grand Prix Competition, held at the Al Thiqah Club in Sharjah. 

The tournament has been organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and traditionally takes place at Dubai. It featured more than 500 athletes who were from 37 countries from across the Middle East, Asia and Africa and the rest of the world. 

Moussa El Hayek, Chief Operating Officer of Al Bustan Centre and Residence said: “We are honored to host the stay of delegates of the 6th FAZZA International Athletics IPC Grand Prix Competition. We applaud and support Dubai Government’s initiative in organizing and supporting this landmark tournament for athletes with disabilities.” 

The four-day competition was held under the auspices of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and competitions were held in four different categories including visually disabled, cerebral palsy, motor paralysis and neural paralysis. Athletes have competed in distances from 100m up to 5,000m on the track, and field events including Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, Club Throw and Long Jump. Special prizes have been handed over for athletes who set new records. 

“Sheikh Hamdan believes in our efforts in promoting disabled sports and one of the most heartening signs for us is the increase in the number of juniors who will be representing the UAE this year.” said Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman, Organising Committee, Fazza International Athletics IPC Grand Prix. The competition is being sponsored by Al Tayer Motors, Emirates NBD and Global Village.
